VARSITY ATHLETICS

SPORTS INFORMATION — 2008

“Mason is certainly well deserving of this honor,” said Head Men's Basketball Coach Sean McDonnell.  “He continues to impress me with accomplishments both on and off the court.”

Conrad, a mechanical engineering major, has a 3.72 GPA and is now eligible for Academic All-America honors. He is averaging 12.7 points per-game and 6.8 rebounds per-game for the Spartans this season. Conrad, a three-time University Athletic Association All-Academic selection, has grabbed a total of 575 rebounds during his career at Case Western Reserve, which places him fourth all-time in career rebounds. The senior center has also scored 1,169 career-points, which is 10th all-time in Spartan men's basketball history.

Last summer, Conrad completed an internship where he did research on the Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV), the space craft of choice for new explorations to the moon, at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio.  Conrad became a full-time employee for NASA last month and is working there during his final semester.

“Mason has taken advantage of the numerous opportunities that are available to our student-athletes at Case Western Reserve,” continued McDonnell.  “We are very proud of him.”

Case Western Reserve will be taking a step back in time next weekend [Feb. 15-17] when it hosts the third annual Throwback Weekend at Adelbert Gymnasium. The Spartans will begin by wearing Western Reserve University [Red Cats] uniforms Friday night when they face No. 9 Washington University at 8:00 p.m.  Click here for more information .
