GARDELLA NAMED UAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK...
CLEVELAND, OH (February 12, 2008) - Case Western Reserve University junior wrestler Drew Gardella (Sagamore Hills, OH) has been named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week this week. The announcement was made today on the UAA website.
Gardella registered a pair of falls at 149 pounds en route to Most Outstanding Wrestler honors at the 2008 University Athletic Association Wrestling Championships hosted by New York University. Gardella, who also garnered All-Association accolades for the second time, opened the day with a fall in 4:28 over Jack Toussaint of the University of Chicago and followed with a third-period fall (6:45) over Matt Magill of host NYU to improve to 15-3 on the season and 86-23 for his career.
The Case Western Reserve wrestling team will host Muskingum College and the Rochester Institute of Technology this weekend for the Claude B. Sharer Tri-Meet. Matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. in Horsburgh Gymnasium.
