MANOOGIAN AND ERB NAMED UAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK...
CLEVELAND, OH (February 5, 2008) - Case Western Reserve University senior's Esther Erb (Richmond, VA) and David Manoogian (Green, OH) have been named Co-Athlete of the Week in their respective sports by the University Athletic Association. The announcement was made on the UAA website .
Erb won two individual events and ran the anchor leg on a victorious relay to pace the Spartans to a runner-up finish in their own Case Western Reserve Invitational. Erb captured the 3,000-meter run in 10:19.01, then placed first in the mile run with a time of 5:06.33. Both times are the fastest to date in the UAA. She capped off the weekend by running the anchor leg of the winning distance medley relay (13:07.88). Erb shared the honor with Washington University's Morgen Leonard-Fleckman.
Manoogian wrestled to a runner-up finish in the 141-pound weight class at the 2008 Pete Willson Wheaton Invitational, contributing to the Spartans' 12th-place finish in the 27-team field. Manoogian, who was seeded second among 24 wrestlers in the weight class, used three decisions and a technical fall to advance to the championship final, where he dropped a 4-2 decision to his opponent from NCAA Division II University of Indianapolis. Manoogian shared the honor with New York University's Naum Shuminov.
