WOMEN'S SOCCER — 2007

CLEVELAND, OH (September 15, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University junior Caroline Garber (Cincinnati, OH) had two assists to lead the Spartans to a 2-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace College tonight at Case Field.

After a very physical first half, Case took a 1-0 lead after a goal by freshman forward Cecelia Fusco (Croton, NY-pictured) off a Garber assist less than 20 minutes into the game. Strong defensive play led by senior defenders' Bridget Mason (Chicago, IL) and Kelly Goris (Commerce Twp., MI) held the Yellow Jackets to just one shot (none on goal) after 45 minutes.

The second half was much more free flowing as Baldwin Wallace ’s Allie Wojtkun tied the game at 1-1 in the 59th minute. But Case took the lead and was able to hold on as freshman midfielder Ana Arruda (Ann Arbor, MI) knocked in another great Garber pass at the 60:41 mark.

Both Fusco's and Arruda's goals were the first of their collegiate career.

Case junior goalkeeper Kirsten McClain (Rochester, NY) picked up the victory while junior goalkeeper Nikki Frankenstein (Cincinnati, OH) added two saves for the Spartans in the second half.
