CASE 1, CARNEGIE MELLON 0...
CLEVELAND, OH (October 28, 2005) - Case Western Reserve junior Amber Taylor (Germantown, MD) scored the only goal in the game as the Spartans upset the #25 ranked Carnegie Mellon Tartans 1-0 this evening at Case Field. With the victory, Case improves to 6-8-2 and a very respectable 2-3 in the UAA. Meanwhile, the Tartans fall to 10-2-2 and 3-2 in the UAA.
Carnegie Mellon played tough all game and it was Case goalkeeper Lauren Gaeta (Parkton, MD) who kept the Spartans in the game. Gaeta made an outstanding 11 saves as the Tartans out-shot Case 18-4 in the contest. The only shot that hit the back of the net was Taylor's game-winner in the 69th minute of play. Spartan junior Andrea Newman (Nashville, TN) had the assist on Taylor's goal.
Case will host another UAA game this Sunday when they take on the #20 ranked Emory University Eagles from Atlanta, GA.
