CASE 0, DENISON 0 ...
CLEVELAND, OH (September 28, 2005) - The Case Western Reserve women's soccer team played to a 0-0 double overtime tie with the sixth ranked team in the nation, the Denison University Big Red. It was the fifth overtime game for the Spartans who are now 3-5-2 on the campaign. Denison's record moves to 6-2-1 on the year.
The Big Red showed why they are a nationally ranked team as they created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game. However, Case goaltender Lauren Gaeta (Parkton, MD) played an outstanding game as she made a total of 16 saves. Denison out-shot the Spartans 30-6 in the contest. In the final minute of the second overtime, Denison had an opportunity to win the game, but Gaeta got in the way enough to force the shot wide.
Case opens up University Athletic Association play this weekend as they host the Brandeis University Judges on Saturday.
