WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY—2007


CLEVELAND, OH (November 17, 2007) - The Case Western Reserve University women’s cross country team placed sixth out of 32 schools at the 2007 Division III NCAA Cross Country Championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.
 
Amherst College finished first overall with 120 points, followed by Plattsburgh State (SUNY) in second with 159 points and Washington University (MO) finished third with 194 points.

The Spartans finished 15 points behind fifth place Geneseo (SUNY) and nine points ahead of seventh place finisher, DePauw University.

Case Western Reserve finished 10th last year at the 2006 Division III NCAA Cross Country Championships and this years' sixth place finish is its best [men or women] in history.

Senior Esther Erb (Richmond, VA-pictured) paced the Spartans, finishing in 27th place with a time of 22:02. Erb earned All-America status for the second straight year.

Junior Kristen Bowhers (Rochester, NY) finished 41st (22:24), freshman Justine Jeroski (Murrysville, PA) placed 84th (22:51) and junior Britta Kumley (Solon, OH) finished 114th (23:05).

"Were the highest finishing cross country team [men or women] in Case Western Reserve history," said Head Coach Kathy Lanese. "So I'm extremely pleased. Esther didn't have a typical "Esther Day", but I have to give her a tremendous amount of credit for her entire season. I'm so proud of all our team."
