Five Case Western Reserve University cross country student-athletes have been named to the 2008 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Cross Country All-Academic teams.

SIXTH PLACE FINISH ONE OF LAST YEAR'S HIGHLIGHTS…

Case Western Reserve Head Cross Country Coach Kathy Lanese couldn't be prouder of the women's team's sixth place finish at the 2007 Division III National Championships in November in Northfield, Minnesota and as the New Year arrives it is certainly one of the highlights of 2007.

Women's Cross Country

Spartans finish sixth at NCAA Division III Championship; Best finish in School history...

...Senior Esther Erb finished 27th overall out of 283 runners with a time of 22:02. Erb had an exceptional season, as she won six consecutive races from Sept.15-Nov.17. Erb earned All-America status for the second consecutive year and was named the Great Lakes Runner of the Year. Read a recent Cleveland Plain Dealer Story on Erb here.

...The Spartans sixth place national finish was the best in men's or women's teams' history. The previous best Spartan finish was in 1986 when the men's cross country team finished seventh overall.

...Junior Kristen Bowhers finished 41st (22:24), freshman Justine Jeroski placed 84th (22:51) and junior Britta Kumley finished 114th (23:05).
