OBERLIN 3, CASE 1 ...
CLEVELAND, OH (October 27, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University’s volleyball team lost to host Oberlin College 3-1 (25-30, 30-24, 26-30 and 28-30) at the Oberlin College Tri-Match in Oberlin, Ohio.
Case Western Reserve falls to 13-17 (3-4 UAA) on the season, while the Yeoman rise to 7-19.
Star Spartan efforts were made by sophomore middle blocker S.K. Piper (Portage, MI), who nailed a team high 16 kills.
Junior setter Julie Schaefer (Independence, OH) had 18 assists and 14 digs - her second consecutive double-double. Freshman outside hitter Beth Karpinski (Avon Lake, OH) also double-doubled for the second straight match with 12 kills and 14 digs. Freshman setter Alicia Beckett (Ann Arbor, MI-pictured) rounded out the double-double parade with 18 assists and 11 digs.
Sophomore libero Andrea Lamont (Columbia, MD) saved a match-high 19 digs.
The Spartans travel to the University of Rochester this Friday and Saturday for the 2007 University Athletic Association Championships. Case Western Reserve will be seeded fifth in Rochester, New York.
