CLEVELAND, OH (October 18th, 2007) - The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team defeated Lake Erie College 3-0 (30-20, 30-21, and 31-29) at a non-conference showdown in Painesville, Ohio.

The Spartans push to 13-14 (3-4 UAA) on the year while the Storm quiets to 9-19.

Leading the Spartan attack was freshman setter Alicia Beckett (Ann Arbor, MI-pictured) who contributed with 22 assists and 10 digs and sophomore middle blocker S.K. Piper (Portage, MI) who nailed a Spartan high 14 kills, to go along with a sizzling .583 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Julie Schaefer (Independence, OH) assisted on 17 points and saved 12 digs and freshman outside hitter Anne Murphy (Dayton, OH) knocked in nine kills.

Case’s 13 victories are the most wins for the Spartan program in over half a decade.

Case travels 10 miles east to take on Ursuline College on October 24th at 7:00 p.m. for a battle of Cleveland schools. Ursuline won the 2007 Case Tournament back in September, but will face the Spartans for the first time this year.
