SPARTAN VOLLEYBALL —2007

CLEVELAND, OH (September 30, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University's volleyball team lost to 7th ranked Washington University 3-0 (30-19, 30-10, 30-18) in the second match of the University Athletic Association’s Round Robin Tournament in New York City, New York.

The Spartans fall to 8-10 (1-1) while the Bears rise to 10-4 (2-0).

Case fought hard against one of the best Division III volleyball programs in the country.

Leading the charge for the Spartans against the Bears was junior outside hitter Elise Snell (Valparaiso, IN-pictured) with six kills and sophomore middle blocker S.K. Piper (Portage, MI) with five kills.

"Washington is a premier volleyball tradition and they have players on that team who could be playing Division I," said Head Coach Karen Farrell. "We played them as tough as we could and gained good experience for the rest of the season."

The Spartans play the final match of the [UAA] Round Robin Tournament today at 1:00 p.m. against Carnegie Mellon at New York University.
