SPARTAN VOLLEYBALL —2007


CLEVELAND, OH (September 15, 2007)- The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team won their final match of the Case Tournament 3-2 (30-25, 19-30, 28-30, 30-21, 15-11) over Roberts Wesleyan at the Veale Center.

The Spartans finish the tournament in third place with a match-play record of 3-1 behind Ohio Dominican and the champion, Ursuline College. Case’s overall games record was (10-6).

With the victory, Case pushes above .500 with a record of 7-6, while Roberts Wesleyan falls to 5-10.

Case has won seven of their last ten matches and appears ready for UAA conference play.

Leading the charge for the Spartans was sophomore middle blocker S.K. Piper (Portage, MI) with 16 kills and 3 aces, freshman outside hitter Beth Karpinski (Avon Lake, OH) with 13 kills and 29 digs and junior settler Julie Schaefer (Independence, OH-pictured) with 31 assists and 20 digs.

Sophomore libero Andrea Lamont (Columbia, MD) was the lone Spartan named to the 2007 Case All-Tournament team.
