CLEVELAND, OH (September 8, 2007) -
The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team dropped the last match of the 10th annual Maria French Tournament 3-0 to Heidelberg (25-30, 20-30, and 16-30) at Baldwin Wallace College. 
The Spartan’s split the four game tournament with impressive victories against La Roche (PA) and Daemon College. With the loss Case falls to 3-5 on the year while Heidelberg escalades to 7-1.
Junior setter Julie Schaefer (Independence, OH - pictured) led the Spartans with 14 kills. Freshman outside hitter Beth Karpinski (Avon Lake, OH) made 16 digs and the lone Spartan named to the Maria French All Tournament Team was sophomore S.K. Piper (Portage, MI) who led the Spartans with 14 kills. Piper had 60 total kills in the two day tournament helping lead Case to two important victories.
Next up for the Spartans will be the Baldwin Wallace College Yellow Jackets on Sept. 12 at the Veale Center. Game time is 7 p.m.
