CLEVELAND, OH (August 31, 2007) -
The Case Western Reserve University women’s volleyball team open its 2007 season tonight with a 3-0 loss (30-26, 30-24, 30-19) to host Mount Union College at the Purple Raider Volleyball Invitational in Alliance, Ohio.
Spartan freshman outside hitter Beth Karpinski (Avon Lake, OH-pictured) had a nice collegiate debut. Karpinski recorded eight kills and 12 digs in Case’s season opener. Spartan junior setter Julie Schaefer (Independence, OH) posted 18 assists and sophomore middle blocker S.K. Piper (Portage, MI) added nine kills against Mt. Union.
The Spartans face Denison University in match two at 8:00 p.m.
