CLEVELAND, OH (October 14, 2006) -
Case Western Reserve University freshman outside hitter S.K. Piper (Portage, MI-pictured) had a team high 28 kills as the Spartans topped the University of Rochester 3-2 (30-28, 31-29, 27-30, 26-30, 15-4) in their opening match of the University Athletic Association Round Robin #2 at the University of Chicago.
Case (10-15, 1-3 UAA) sophomore middle hitter Colleen Martin (Rocky River, OH) added 17 kills, while freshman setter Andrea Lamont (Columbia, MD) posted 39 digs and sophomore setter Julie Schaefer (Independence, OH) recorded 57 assists.
The Spartans, who recorded 148 team digs against Rochester, will face Carnegie Mellon University in match two.
