SPARTAN VOLLEYBALL —2006


CLEVELAND, OH (September 15, 2006)
- Karen Farrell returned to Horsburgh Gymnasium this evening as the head coach of Case Western Reserve University for the first time since October of 1998 and the Spartans made her homecoming a memorable one. They defeated Ursuline College 3-1 (30-28, 27-30, 30-25, 30-18) in the opening round of the two-day Case Volleyball Tournament.

Farrell coached the Spartans from 1995-1998 before leaving to take the same position at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Case improved to 2-8 on the year with the win and play Notre Dame College tonight at 7:00 p.m.

Sophomore outside hitter Elise Snell (Valparaiso, IN-pictured) had a team high 20 kills for Case. Freshman outside hitter S.K. Piper (Portage, MI) added 17 kills and sophomore setter Julie Schaefer (Independence, OH) posted 55 assists.
