CLEVELAND , OH (September 18, 2004) -The Case Western Reserve University women's volleyball team began their own tournament (Case & John Carroll Invitational) on a bad note by losing match one, but ended it on a good one by winning the last three.
The Spartans were defeated by Notre Dame 22-30, 30-19, 30-17, 18-30, 15-11 on Friday in the opening round. They bounced back in game two on Friday defeating Grove City 30-22, 25-30, 30-26, 30-22. On Saturday Case defeated Tri-State 27-30, 30-13, 30-24, 30-23 and Ursuline 30-22, 30-28, 30-21 to finish 3-1.
Two Case players made the All-Tournament team. Junior outside hitter Heather Nappi ( Ashtabula , OH ) earned her third straight selection, having made the cut at Baldwin Wallace College last weekend and Mt. Union the weekend before that. Senior middle hitter Rachel Spadafore ( Meadville , PA ) earned her first honor of the season.
The Spartans improve to 6-7 on the year and travel to Ursuline this Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. match. Tournament Results
