MEN'S SOCCER — 2007


CLEVELAND, OH (October 14, 2007) - The No. 8 ranked Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team (10-3) won their second UAA match of the season, as they defeated the Tartans from Carnegie Mellon (7-3-1) 3-1 at Case Field.

The Tartans struck early when Patrick Lutz tapped a ball in from teammate Adam Bogus to give his team the 1-0 lead in the 17th minute.

The Spartans answered back when junior RJ French (Zionsville, IN - pictured) scored his sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick to tie the match at 1-1. French is tied with junior Matt Paglia (Pittsburgh, PA) for the team lead in goals.

Junior Kevin Bigart (Naperville, IL) struck next, as he notched his fourth goal of the season in the 31 st minute to give his team the 2-0 lead.

Junior Justin Steggerda (Johnston, IA) also added a goal – his third of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) was stellar between the posts, as he saved eight shots on the afternoon in the victory.

The Spartans will play again on Oct. 18 when Lake Erie College comes to Case Field for a 7:30 p.m. match.
