MEN'S SOCCER — 2007

CLEVELAND, OH (September 4, 2007) - The No. 5 ranked Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team continued their solid play, as they defeated John Carroll University this afternoon 3-0 for their third win in as many games.

The Spartans wasted no time beginning where they left off over the weekend, as junior forward Kevin Bigart (Naperville, IL) scored his second goal of the season only 26 seconds into the game to give the Spartans the early 1-0 lead.

That's all the Spartan defense would need, as they held John Carroll to only four shots the entire contest. Senior goalkeeper Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH - pictured) saved two shots to earn the shutout for the second game in-a-row.

Sophomore midfielder Brian Evans (Bartlett, TN) scored his first goal of the season to put the Spartans up 2-0 with 40:04 remaining in the first period. Bigart earned the assist on the goal, his first of the season.

Junior forward RJ French (Zionsville, IN) was the next Spartan to strike, as he scored his team-high third goal of the season 73 minutes and 13 seconds into the game to put the finishing touches on the 3-0 Spartan victory.

The team continued to shoot high-percentage shots on offense, as they shot only six times on goal and connected three times in today's win.

The team's next game is on Sept. 8 against Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
