CASE 3, LAKE ERIE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (October 18, 2006) -
The Spartans (12-2-1) won another nail biter tonight at Case Field, beating Lake Erie College (9-5-1) 3-2. The Spartans play their last home game of the year this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against Juniata College.
Case started the game playing beautiful soccer and jumped out to an early lead. Junior midfielder Neal Duryea (Cheswick, PA-pictured) scored a goal off a slick one touch pass from sophomore forward RJ French (Zionsville , IN) and sophomore midfielder Nate Hoffman (Wilmington , DE) to give the Spartans the early lead at 14:53. The score was tied when Lake Erie midfielder Justin Rraya scored on a penalty kick at 36:49. However, the Spartans would go back on top when sophomore forward Kevin Bigart (Naperville, OH) took advantage of his opportunity at a penalty kick at 54:13.
Unfortunately, eleven minutes later Lake Erie had knotted the score at two on a goal from forward Joe Starvaggi. But Duryea would strike for the second time in the game with only five minutes left to secure the victory for the Spartans.
