MEN'S SOCCER — 2006

CLEVELAND, OH (October 15, 2006) - Case Western Reserve University's 2-1 victory over the University of Chicago today at Case Field was an extremely intense University Athletic Association match. The Spartans came out with fire in their bellies and got on the board early when sophomore Matt Paglia (Pittsburgh, PA) scored on a laser shot to the right corner of the goal off a pretty pass from freshman midfielder Pranav Lohitsa (West Bloomfield, MI).

The Maroons' Eric Kirkenmeier tied the game at 1-1 when he scored off a pass from Alex Takakuwa at 58:13. Case sophomore forward RJ French (Zionsville, IN-pictured) then came through in the clutch again. He scored the game winner at the 71:55 mark off a double assist from senior midfielder Noah Mariniak (Dayton, OH) and freshman midfielder Brian Evans (Bartlett, TN).

The victory improved the Spartans to 11-2-1 overall (2-2 UAA) and dropped the Maroons to 7-4-2 (1-2-1 UAA). Case will be back in action October 18 at 7:30 p.m. against Lake Erie College.
