#15 CASE 2, KENYON 0...
CLEVELAND, OH (October 3, 2006) -
The Case Western Reserve University men’s soccer team set a single-season school record for wins (10) at Kenyon College this evening as they defeated the Lords 2-0. The Spartans (10-0-1), currently ranked 15th in the nation (Div. III), will host New York University at Case Field this Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
The Spartans had limited use (injured) of sophomore forward RJ French (Zionsville, OH), who has tallied seven goals and handed out five assists this season, but sophomore midfielder Matt Paglia (Pittsburgh, PA-pictured) picked up the slack with a goal and an assist on the night. The goal was Paglia’s fifth and the assist, his sixth on the year.
Paglia found sophomore midfielder Justin Steggerda (Johnston, IA) on a breakaway at 30:08 and then knocked one in himself at 50:59 in front of the net on an assist from senior back Greg Gasbarro (Hudson, OH), helping Case win their sixth straight. Sophomore goalkeeper Konrad Karasek (Prospect, IL) held the Lords (2-6-2) scoreless with three saves in 90 minutes.
