CASE 1, #18 WOOSTER 0...
CLEVELAND, OH (September 26, 2006) -
The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team showed a ton of heart tonight in their 1-0 double overtime victory over the College of Wooster, who is currently ranked 18th in the country.
Sophomore forward R.J. French (Zionsville, IN-pictured) came up big again in overtime, scoring the game winning goal (103:18) off a double assist by sophomore Justin Steggerda (Johnston, IA) and junior Neal Duryea (Cheswick, PA). Both teams started the night undefeated. Case improves to 8-0-1, while Wooster drops to 7-1.
Coach Dan Palmer's Spartans have eight shutouts this year and have not allowed a goal in the past seven games. Case is currently ranked fifth in the Great Lakes region.
The Spartans open up University Association play this Saturday at Brandeis University in Boston (1:00 p.m).
