MEN'S SOCCER—2005


CLEVELAND, 0H (November 5, 2005) - Freshman Kevin Bigart (Naperville, IL) notched his team-high 10th goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as the #3 ranked University of Rochester Yellow Jackets defeated Case 4-1 this afternoon. With the victory, Rochester finishes the regular season as the UAA Champion with a 7-0-0 UAA mark and 16-0-0 overall record. Case completes the season with a very respectable 8-9-2 overall record (1-5-1 UAA).

The Yellow Jackets built a 3-0 first half lead with three goals in a span of 10 minutes. Rochester's Damien Hallatt (Rochester, NY) broke a 0-0 tie with a goal in the 35th minute of play. The Yellow Jackets' Patrick Ripp (Wilmington, DE) then added two goals in the 39th and 44th minutes to put Rochester on top 3-0 at halftime.

The Spartans battled back early in the second half when Bigart found the back of the Yellow Jacket goal just 47 seconds into the period. RJ French (Zionsville, IN) assisted on Bigart's goal, it was French's third helper on the season. The Yellow Jackets however bounced right back with Nate Micklos (Palatine, IL) making the score 4-1 less than a minute after the Case goal.

Spartan goalkeeper Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) made six saves in goal for Case. Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets showed why they are ranked third in the country as they finished with a 14-7 advantage in shots in the victory.
