EMORY 1, CASE 0 ...
CLEVELAND, 0H (October 30, 2005) - The #11 ranked Emory Eagles needed overtime and a man advantage to down the Case Western Reserve men's soccer team 1-0 this afternoon. The Spartans completed the weekend 0-2 and are now at 8-8-2 on the season and 1-4-1 in the UAA. Emory heads back to Atlanta, GA with a 15-2 overall mark and a 4-2 record in the UAA.
Case Western Reserve sophomore goalkeeper Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) played a tremendous game as he came up with 10 saves. It was a very physical match as both teams received three yellow cards apiece. Case's Matt Paglia (Pittsburgh, PA) had two yellow cards which forced the Spartans to play a man down for the remainder of the game. The Eagles took advantage of the situation and scored the game-winning goal in the third minute of the first overtime. Karl Dix made a pass across the front of the Spartan goal and Chad Chambers knocked it past a helpless Skidmore to put the Eagles on top for the victory.
Case will finish out the season next Saturday as they take on the #3 ranked University of Rochester Yellow Jackets at 12:30 p.m. at Case Field.
