WASHINGTON 2, CASE 1 ...
ST. LOUIS, MO (October 14, 2005) - Case freshman RJ French (Zionsville, IN) put the Spartans on the scoreboard first, but Washington University battled back with two first half goals to down Case 2-1 this evening in St. Louis, MO. The Bears improved to 6-4-3 (1-2 UAA) with the victory while the Spartans dropped to 6-5-2 and evened to 1-1-1 in the UAA.
French notched his second goal of the season on an unassisted score in the 26th minute to give Case a 1-0 lead midway through the first half. The Bears fought back to level the score at 1-1 when Will Cockle knocked home a loose rebound in the 34th minute. The game appeared headed to halftime knotted at 1-1, when Case's Greg Gasbarro (Hudson, OH) was called for a yellow card. Washington was awarded a penalty kick and David Borton booted the game-winning goal past Spartan goalkeeper Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) for the victory.
Case will look to get back on the winning track this Sunday when they visit Chicago to take on the #19 ranked University of Chicago Maroons in a 12:00 p.m. (EST) game.
