MEN'S SOCCER—2005


COLUMBUS, OH (September 18, 2005) - Case Western Reserve freshman Justin Steggerda (Johnston, IA) scored his second goal of the season as the Spartans were defeated by Capital University 2-1 this afternoon. The Crusaders improved to 6-2 with the victory while Case suffered their second loss of the year to go to 3-2-1 overall.

Capital got the scoring going early when Eric Tarr put the Crusaders up 1-0 in the eight minute of action. The first half ended with Case trailing 1-0 after being out-shot 4-3. The Spartans picked up the intensity in the second half as they had six shots, compared to two for Capital. Steggerda evened the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal in the 56th minute of play. The tie didn't last for long however when Joey Snyder put Capital in front for good with a goal in the 65th minute of action.

The Spartans will next host Thiel College at Case Field in a 7:00 p.m. match on Wednesday evening.
