CASE 3, OBERLIN 1...
CLEVELAND, OH (September 13, 2005) - Case Western Reserve freshman Kevin Bigart (Naperville, IL) notched his first collegiate hat trick as he led the Spartans to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Oberlin College Yeomen. With the win, Case remains undefeated at the new Case Field and improves to 3-1-1 on the season. The Yeomen moved to 1-3-1 with the loss.
Bigart scored the first goal of the game in the 19th minute off a cross from Noah Marciniak (Dayton, OH). The Yeomen answered back in the 28th minute when Evan Childress connected off a free kick to level the score at 1-1. It looked like the two teams would enter halftime tied until Bigart put Case in front in the last minute of the half. Bigart dribbled the ball past a Yeomen defender then drilled a shot from 25 yards out into the top right corner of the Oberlin goal for the 2-1 lead.
Bigart added an insurance goal in the second half to make the score 3-1. Kyle Ferlic (Bethel Park, PA) and Matt Paglia (Pittsburgh, PA) set up Bigart's third score, giving him the only hat trick for Case this season. Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) earned his second victory of the year in net for Case as he made six saves in 90 minutes of work.
Case will travel to Columbus, Ohio on Sunday to take on Capital University in a 3:00 p.m. match.
