MEN'S SOCCER—2005


MEADVILLE, PA (September 9, 2005) - The Case Western Reserve men's soccer team played to a 1-1 double overtime draw against Allegheny College this afternoon. The Spartans might have suffered a defeat if not for for freshman Kevin Bigart's (Naperville, IL) equalizing goal in the 83rd minute of action. Neal Duryea (Cheswick, PA) assisted on Bigart's goal into the far left corner of an open Gator net.

The two teams played to a scoreless first half with Case out-shooting the Gators 5-4 in the initial period. The Spartans ended up with 17 shots compared to nine for the Gators. Allegheny's Ryan Floyd broke the scoreless tie in the 79th minute with a header into the lower left corner of the goal past Case goalkeeper Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH). After the Spartans evened the score at 1-1, the two teams played two scoreless overtime periods for the tie. Overall, Skidmore played solid in net for the Spartans recording two saves in 110 minutes of work.

With their second tie of the season, Allegheny is now 0-1-2 on the year. Case moves to 2-1-1 and will face Oberlin College back at University Circle in a 5:00 p.m. match on September 13.
