CASE 3, PITT-BRADFORD 2 ...
BRADFORD, PA (September 3, 2005) - Case Western Reserve freshman Justin Steggerda (Johnston, IA) scored the game-winning goal in the 80th minute as the Spartans defeated the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford this afternoon. The victory keeps Case undefeated at 2-0 while the Panthers are 0-1 after their first game of the year.
Case forward Matt Paglia (Pittsburgh, PA) got the Spartans on the board first with a goal in the 11th minute of action. Scott Christensen (Rochester, NY) got his second goal in as many games as Case led 2-0 in the early going.
Pittsburgh-Bradford battled back and scored two unanswered goals to level the score 2-2 in the second half. Winnie Rajakumar and Ben Wentworth recorded the tallies for the Panthers. Case however wouldn't settle for a tie as Kyle Ferlic (Bethel Park, PA) and Nate Hoffman (Wilmington, DE) set up Steggerda's game-winning goal.
Case will return to action when they travel to Seton Hill College on September 6 for a 6:00 p.m. game.
