HIRAM 2, CASE 1, OT...
CLEVELAND, OH (September 8, 2004) - The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team fell to Hiram College 2-1 this afternoon in an overtime thriller. The Spartans outplayed the Hiram Terriers, with a shot advantage of 32-14 and earning six corners to Hiram's two. Yet a goal in the 113th minute was all that Hiram needed to send Case to their second straight loss and 2-2 on the season. Justin Casella (Johnstown, PA) opened up the scoring for Case in the 50th minute with his second goal of the season off a feed from Greg Gasbarro (Hudson, OH). However, Hiram came back quickly with a goal in 59th minute off of a penalty kick. Freshman goalkeeper Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) once again worked in goal for the Spartans and made seven saves in the overtime loss. The defeat came as Case Head Coach Dan Palmer made his return to the Hiram campus, where he was the head coach last season. The Spartans look to get back on the winning track when they head to the College of Wooster on Tuesday, September 14th for a 5:00 match. Box Score
