MEN'S SOCCER —2004

CLEVELAND, OH (September 6, 2004) - The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team under the direction of first year Head Coach Dan Palmer received their first loss of the year this afternoon. The Spartans fell 2-1 to SUNY Oswego at the University of Rochester Tournament. Things looked good for Case to remain undefeated on the year as freshman defender Alex Merlino (W. Newton, PA) found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career at the 27 minute mark to go on top 1-0. Oswego would then answer with two straight goals at the 47:33 and 75:44 mark while shutting the Spartans down. Case freshman Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) received the loss in goal, making 3 saves in 90 minutes work. The Spartans fall to 2-1 on the year and will travel to Hiram College September 8. Palmer coached Hiram the past two seasons before joining Case this past summer. Box Score
