CLEVELAND, OH (September 1, 2007) -
The Case Western Reserve University men’s cross country team finished third at the seventh annual Bill Sudeck Classic this afternoon in Hunting Valley, Ohio.
Edinboro University, a NCAA Division II program, won the race with a total of 27 points, followed by Allegheny College with 46 points and Case with 66 points. The top individual runner was Ryan Place from Allegheny who finished with a time of 25:43:00.
Leading the charge for the Spartans were junior Dominic Smith (New Richmond, OH-pictured) who placed fourth overall (26:17:00), sophomore Reza Mohammadpour (Mayfield, OH) who finished 12th (27:14:00) and junior Ryan Gjoraas (Plymouth, MN) finished 13th (27:17:00).
“The Men were phenomenal, Allegheny was third in the nation last year and we finished only 20 points behind them, so it’s a great effort and I am extremely pleased with the results from today," said coach Kathy Lanese. "There is no question they have improved and I look for them to perform very well this season.”
Next for the Spartans is their Alumni Meet next Saturday at Squire Valleevue Farm in Hunting Valley at 9 a.m.
