CASE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT
OBERLIN, OH (9/20/03)
Case Western Reserve University senior running back Brandon McDowell (Cleveland, OH) ran the ball 39 times for 222 yards and one touchdown to lead the Spartans (3-0, 0-0 University Athletic Association) past Oberlin College (0-3, 0-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) 17-10 this afternoon at Dill Field in Oberlin. McDowell entered the weekend leading the nation (Division III) in scoring. He has scored ten of the team's 13 touchdowns this season.
Other contributors on the offensive side of the ball for the Spartans were senior quarterback Eli Grant (Brooklyn, NY), who completed 17 of 30 passes for 218 yards and one touchdown and sophomore receiver Jason Cellura (Euclid, OH), who caught six Grant passes for 122 yards.
Case senior receiver Mark Schlitter (Olmsted Twp., OH) caught a five yard touchdown pass for Case's only other touchdown. On defense, sophomore linebacker Taurean Shattuck (Elyria, OH) led the Spartans with six total tackles (5 solo, 6 assists) and an interception.
Case play host to the College of Wooster next Saturday at Finnigan Field at 1:00 p.m. Wooster in ranked in the top 25 in the nation (Div. III).
