General Biographical Information (Awards, etc): Has a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University, where she worked with Roy Baumeister on topics including self-esteem, anger management, and self-awareness. Jen is particularly interested in the occurrence of counter-productive and self-destructive behaviors. In studying these questions, she has published and presented papers on performance with an audience, risk-taking behaviors, excuse making, and perceptions of ability. Also, authored paper on the perils of a supportive audience that received national coverage, including an article in the New York Times and an interview on NPR's Morning Edition. Served on the faculty of Wittenberg University for eight years before returning this year to Case in 2006.
