Hall of Fame Selection Process
The honor of selection and induction into the Case Reserve Athletic Club (CRAC) Hall of Fame is annually bestowed upon up to nine (9) individuals. The Selection Committee includes 27 individuals, with equal representation from Case Institute of Technology (Case), Western Reserve University (WRU), and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). In addition, a Special Category is staffed to examine the qualifications of individuals that may not have earned a degree from Case, WRU or CWRU. Nominations are submitted by mail to the Secretary of CRAC or to the Director of Athletics. Consideration of all nominations begins in early fall, and the initial vote narrows the pool of nominees to ten (10) from each category. A subsequent vote reduces nominees to a pool of four (4) and then all committee members vote to select the final two from each category. Candidates receiving a two-thirds confirmation vote are presented to the Executive Committee. The Hall of Fame class for that year is then notified by the President of CRAC and the Director of Athletics.
Criteria for nomination, and selection, to the Hall of Fame includes having graduated a minimum of ten (10) years prior to induction, and having not more than 55 years pass since a candidate earned a degree. In addition, a nominee must have lettered in two sports, or earned a varsity letter a minimum of two years in a single sport.
Each year two (2) graduates of Case, two (2) graduates of WRU, two (2) graduates of CWRU, two (2) old timer or special category and one (1) Mather College representative will form the Hall of Fame class.
