BOB TAYLOR (footbALL, BASKETBALL), western reserve university - 1966

Bob Taylor was a two-sport student-athlete at Western Reserve University, playing varsity football and basketball for the Red Cats for his entire collegiate career.nice

On the gridiron, Taylor had many responsibilities, playing as a defensive back, punt returner and a kicker. During the 1962-63 season, the Red Cats won three games thanks in large part to Taylor’s kicking, which included a game-winning field goal in a 3-0 win over Case Institute of Technology. While playing on the basketball team, Taylor was a defensive specialist, and he can recall always being assigned to guard the opponent’s best player. Following his collegiate career, Taylor had a tryout with the Cleveland Browns, and also played in other amateur sports in the Cleveland area, including several championship-winning softball teams. Graduating with a chemistry degree in 1966, Taylor worked as a development chemist with Sherwin Williams during the late 1960s and ’70s before getting a job with Johnson & Johnson in their health and safety department.
