Sharon Lynn Sanborn received countless academic and athletic accolades during her time at Case Western Reserve University, including being named the NCAA Woman of the Year in 1998.nice

As a four-year letter winner with the swimming and diving team, Sanborn was a three-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) All-American and, upon graduation, she had broken six school swimming records. She currently holds the school record in the 100-yard butterfly, which she set in 1997. During her senior year, she received the GTE Academic All-American Athlete of the Year award and was an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. Sanborn graduated summa cum laude and earned the National Merit Scholarship in 1994 through 1998. She also received the Provost’s Scholarship in 1994 through 1998 and was in the Golden Key National Honor Society in 1996 through 1998. Sanborn was awarded the Athletic Department’s Patricia B. Kilpatrick Award, presented to the four-year varsity participant with the highest grade-point average.
