sheila mcelroy (soccer), case western reserve university - 1990
Sheila McElroy was a four-year letter winner with the Case Western Reserve University women’s soccer team, and led the team as captain during her final three seasons.
Throughout her career she was chosen as an All-UAA (University Athletic Association), All-NCAC (North Coast Athletic Conference), All-Region and All-Ohio soccer player. The NCAC honored McElroy by awarding her Defensive Player of the Year in 1989, and also selected her to the NCAC 10th Anniversary Team. McElroy received the Dorothy L. Hoza Award in 1989, which is given to an outstanding female student-athlete who has made a strong contribution to a women’s intercollegiate sports program at Case Western Reserve. Academically, McElroy was an Academic All-District IV and Academic All-Ohio selection, and was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the Mortar Board and the Society of Women Engineers. McElroy graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering in 1990 and went to work as a consultant for Andersen Consulting for nine years. At the time of induction, she is a self-employed consultant and continues to play soccer recreationally.
