charles m. bednar (football), case institute of technology - 1951, ms - 1956
Charles M. Bednar was a letter winner in each of his four years with the Case Institute of Technology Rough Rider football team, which included seasons in 1945 and 1948-50.
Bednar was an All-Big Four and an All-Ohio selection during his time on the gridiron, and continued pursuing the sport after graduation. Bednar made the Green Bay Packers practice squad team in 1952 and also played with United States Navy teams in Norfolk, Virginia, and Corpus Christi, Texas, in exhibition games against college and professional teams. Following his football years, Bednar took up golf and also coached a grade-school football team at St. Benedict’s school. While enrolled at CIT, Bednar was vice president of the Student Senate and was an active member in the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He is a registered professional engineer and has worked as an engineering manager with various public and private companies.
