In 1976, Professor Wilson founded and for two seasons served as artistic director
of The Actors' Mime Theater. He began teaching full time on the university level
in 1978 at Ohio University in the BFA and MFA acting programs. In the 1980s,
Ron based himself out of New York City and freelanced as an actor, director,
playwright, and teacher for the next eight years. In 1989, he received an appointment
to the faculty at Cornell University in the Department of Theater, Film, and
Dance, where he taught acting, playwriting, screenwriting, and was a resident
director, production movement, period styles coach, and fight choreographer for
ten years. In 1999, Ron joined the faculty at Case Western Reserve University
as the Katharine Bakeless Nason Professor of Theater.
He is a member of the Society
for Stage Directors and Choreographers (having directed over
50 productions), a member of Actors'
Equity, and a member of the Dramatist's Guild of America. He
has choreographed fights for more than 50 productions and continues
to freelance as a Movement Coach/Choreographer at the Cleveland
Play House and other regional theaters. Ron is one of the founding
board members of the Association
of Theatre Movement Educators and is currently serving as the
organization's president.
