Mr. Smith is a part time instructor at Case Western Reserve University teaching Costume Design and Construction, as well as a guest designer for The Philadelphia Story, How I learned to Drive, Much Ado about nothing, The Glass Menagerie and Tartuffe. In addition to his work at Case, he is currently the Resident Costume Designer/Costume Shop Manager for the Weathervane Community Playhouse in Akron.
From 2001-2004, he was the Costume Designer/Costume Shop Manager for the College of Wooster, and has also served as the Resident Costume Designer for the Ohio Light Opera for the 2003 and 2004 Seasons, designing 12 operettas including The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, The Merry Widow, and Robin Hood.
Jasen was the Costume Designer and Theatre Rentals Manager for Akron Design and Costume from 2004-2008, having the opportunity to design many costumes for high schools, community and professional theatres and operas nationally. These have included Aida, The Crucible, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Christmas Carol, The Heiress, Mulan, Brigadoon, 1776, The Mikado, Dido and Aeneas, A Funny thing Happened On the Way to the Forum (which starred Richard Kind) for the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, and Music Man and Carousel for the Round Barn Theatre.
Jasen is the Recipient of the Lois S. Garren Award for Excellence in Costume Design from the region four of the American College Theatre Festival for “Les Liaisons Dangereuses” (1999) and “Tartuffe” (2000).
