I am directing the development of the Children’s Rights Index (CRI). The CRI is a measure of children’s rights for approximately 190 countries. The CRI is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. We are attempting to code four types of rights: civil, political, social, and participation rights. We use these types on the basis of the work of people like T.H. Marshall, Bryan Turner, Thomas Janoski, and others. We hope this endeavor is useful to other academic research as well as policy makers and non-profit organizations who work on children’s rights.
