Shofar, a quarterly, interdisciplinary journal of Jewish
studies, is the official journal of the Midwest and Western
Jewish Studies Associations. Shofar ranges far and wide
thematically in a multi-disciplinary world that spans
four thousand years. It publishes scholarly articles,
opinion pieces, readers' forums, pedagogical essays, and
book reviews. Articles are peer reviewed for scholarly
rigor but at the same time are written with a minimum
of professional jargon and are accessible to a diverse
and general readership.
Frequent special thematic issues are also published under
guest editorships. Topics for recent and forthcoming special
issues include Jewish feminism, Jewish-Christian dialogue
after the Shoah, Judaism and Asian religions, Jewish music,
Jewish studies in Latin America, and Jewish studies in
Germany.
