Autistic Tutors Needed
I am recruiting individuals to work in our home as tutors for my three autistic preschoolers. (oldest is age 6, twins age 5).
I supervise a home tutoring program out of our Chagrin Falls home every day after school and on weekends. Tutors help my children generalize skills and academics that they learn at school as well as teach self-help skills and play skills. The program is based in Applied Behavioral Analysis and is under the supervision of the local experts in autism, The Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism. Professional training will be provided, at no cost to the tutor. We are looking for individuals who would like to stay on our team through out their college years. We are NOT looking for someone interested in only temporary or short-term employment. Salary ranges from $12-$30 per hour, based on experience. We would like someone who can work at least 4-6 hours per week . The individuals are reviewed every 12 months, and salary increases and bonuses are distributed based on performance. It is important to note that this is not a babysitting job. It is a position that requires an individual to teach a child the life skills necessary to succeed in life. Ideally we would like to hire Sophomore's or Junior's. Senior's can apply if they plan on staying in the area after graduation. Grad Students are welcome.
My children have been receiving expert, intensive, full time (avg. 40-50 hours per week) behavioral intervention from the Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism , since the summer of 2001. My oldest son, was 3 years old at that time, and the twins were 20 months old! All 3 of my children attend school at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism Monday through Friday, all year round, from 9:00- 3:00 p.m. They have made significant progress under this exceptional program. The home program is grounded in the science of ABA but not discrete trial formatted. It supplements the school program, with more concentration on play, generalization, and self-help skills.
