The Department of Philosophy invites applications for the Elmer G. Beamer-Hubert H. Schneider Chair in Ethics
The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts & Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for the Elmer G. Beamer-Hubert H. Schneider Chair in Ethics, rank open, tenured or tenure track. AOS: Ethics; AOC: Open. The successful candidate will be a distinguished or rapidly emerging scholar with a strong appreciation for normative ethics, meta-ethics, and the history of ethics, capable of generating excellent teaching and leadership across the university’s divisions and centers including Bioethics, the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence, and Business as an Agent of World Benefit, and other cross-disciplinary outreach. The chair’s endowment includes resources for curricular development and civic involvement. Semester system, four courses per year including Introduction to Philosophy. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent by date of interview. Appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor will require a national reputation for expertise in research, and a distinguished record of publication, as well as other qualifications necessary for tenure and promotion at our institution as stated in the Faculty Handbook and in the tenure and promotion standards of the Department of Philosophy.
