How to Apply
CWRU second year students should submit applications to Dr. Denise Davis, Director of Teacher Education at the Mather House office address below. Fisk students submit applications to Dr. Sheila Peters, Psychology. Applications for both the scholarships and the fellowships at both institutions are due on March 5, 2010. Juniors who are applying mid-year should submit their applications by November 23, 2009.
FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to apply for the Noyce Scholarship. Students must maintain a minimum overall 3.0 GPA, achieve a 3.0 GPA in their education courses, and a 2.7 GPA in their content area courses.
In addition to demographic information, the application requires a 500-600 word essay describing 1) how you came to the decsion to pursue a career as a science or mathematics teacher, 2) your personal professional goals, 3) your commitment to working in a "high-need" school, and 4) your interest in your math or science disciplines. You will also need to submit an official transcript from each higher education institution attended, and two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a CWRU or Fisk faculty member. These forms are included in the application. Applicants must be United States citizens to apply and be able to pass an FBI background check to be licensed to teach. Please make three copies of the waiver form. Give one signed copy to each of your recommenders and include one signed copy with your application.

FOR THE SUMMER INTERNSHIP
In addition to demographic information, the application requires a 300 word essay describing 1) your experiences working with adolescents (coaching, tutoring, babysitting, mentoring, etc.), 2) your interest in a teaching career in mathematics or sciences, 3) how you think a Noyce Summer Internship would benefit your education or career. You will also need to submit an official transcript from each higher education institution attended, and two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a CWRU or Fisk faculty member. Please make three copies of the waiver form. Give one signed copy to each of your recommenders and include one signed copy with your application.
