I have enjoyed teaching history at Case Western Reserve University since 1994. Though my main field of interest and research is medieval church history, c. 500-c. 1500, I teach courses which cover ancient times to the early modern era, and extend geographically beyond Western Europe. Many of these courses are cross-listed with Classics and/or Religious Studies.
Nearly every spring, History 211, The Medieval World, 500-1500 is offered. Another course which covers the same time period, but focuses on the thousand-year career of the Roman Empire in the eastern Mediterranean area, is History 210, The Byzantine World. Those interested in the earlier and later history of Christianity can choose History 303, The Early Church, or History 309, Reformation Europe, 1500-1650. Other courses focus on specific topics in medieval history, such as the crusades, heresy, and the Vikings. The course on ancient & medieval Spain examines a unique culture of diversity, conquest, and change. |
