CALL FOR APPLICATIONS:

Postdoctoral Fellowship in African American Studies 2010/2011: The Department of History, in conjunction with the Office of the Provost and the College of Arts and Sciences, at Case Western Reserve University is offering a postdoctoral fellowship for historical research in African American Studies. The fellowship is open to scholars who are committed to university research and teaching. Fellows must have received their Ph.D. no earlier than spring 2005. The one-year appointment in the Department of History begins August 1, 2010, carries a stipend of $45,000 plus medical benefits and up to $5,000 for relocation, research, and travel related expenses.The Fellow will pursue her/his own research, teach one history course (to be cross-listed with Ethnic Studies) in the spring semester, give a public presentation, and is expected to submit a report to the director on the year’s activities.

Completed applications must include a cover letter, CV, a sample of scholarly writing, and a project proposal (not to exceed five double-spaced pages) that describes the applicant’s research and fully outlines her/his plans for the fellowship year. Applicants also must arrange for at least three (3) confidential letters of recommendation, including preferably one from the dissertation advisor, to be sent directly to Dr. Rhonda Y.
