The acclaimed writer Gila Lustiger, daughter of the historian and Holocaust survivor Arno Lustiger, was born in 1963 in Frankfurt, Germany. When she was eighteen, she moved to Israel, where she studied Art History and Literature at Hebrew University. She has been living in her chosen homeland, France, since 1987. Lustiger is the author of The Inventory (Die Bestandsaufnahme) and This Is How We Are (So sind wir), among others.
